Welcome to our journey. The purpose of my blog is not only to journal our life experience, but also to share what God is doing in our lives. I do not claim to be an expert in parenting, marriage, or even the Bible. But I do have a heart to share my experiences and the true love that God has for each and every one of us. You can read our testimony by clicking on the top of the page. And if you'd like to know about the Homeless Ministry my husband started, you can click on the Homeless tab. I hope you will comment freely on my posts and in my community.

The Word

A couple of years ago I was sitting in a cozy spot, sun shining on my face, listening to a worship CD and journaling. I was trying to put into words how I was feeling, who I was and where I was going in my life when this song caught my attention. Now I had heard it before, but this time was different. It was like it was written just for me. It was exactly what I was thinking. So, I'm going to write the words here, but if you scroll down to the bottom of this screen you can click on the song. It's "The Word", by Sara Groves. All I can say is that if you're struggling with ANYTHING and you desire to have peace and comfort or understanding or anything different than what you've been experiencing...go to the Word. I mean God's Word...His Story...The Bible. It truly does have every promise, every answer you will ever need. Over the next few days or weeks (depending on how much time I can find), I will be sharing my testimony. Did you know that you don't have a testimony unless you've been through a TEST? And believe me...we've been through many tests. Before I share my testimony, I wanted you to know a little bit about me and who I am through Christ. I also want you to have an understanding of where Dave's and my decisions came from. They came from the Living Word of Christ.

So...as you read and listen to these words...I hope they speak to you as they did and continually speak to me.

The Word by Sara Groves

I've done every devotional been every place emotional
Tried to hear a new Word from God and I think it's very odd
That while I attempt to help myself my bible sits upon the shelf
With every promise I could ever need

And the Word was, and the Word is, and the Word will be
And the Word was, and the Word is, and the Word will be

People are getting fit for truth like they're buying a new tailored suit.
Does it fit across the shoulders will it fade when it gets older.
They throw ideas that aren't in style in the salvation army pile
In search for something more to meet our needs.

But the Word was, and the Word is and the Word will be.
And the Word was, and the Word is, and the Word will be.
And the Word was, and the Word is, and the Word will be
And the Word was, and the Word is, and the Word will be

I think it's time I rediscover all the ground that I have covered,
Like seek ye first; what a verse!

We are pressed but not crushed
Perplexed but don't despair
We are persecuted but not abandoned
We are no longer slaves
We are daughters and sons
And when we are weak we are very strong
And neither death nor life
nor present nor future
nor depth nor height
can keep us from the love of Christ.

And the Word I need is the Word that was
Who put on flesh to dwell with us
in the beginning

The Word was, the Word is, and the Word will be.
And the Word was, and the Word is, and the Word will be.
And the Word was, and the Word is, and the Word will be

And the Word was, and the Word is
And the Word was, and the Word is
And the Word was, and the Word is, and the Word will be

The old Word is the new Word is
The old Word is the new Word is
The old Word is the new Word is

The new Word is the old Word

The old Word is the new Word

The Word I need
You're the Word I need
You're the Word I need

I just love that song. And I truly believe EVERY WORD in it! And I try to live my life based on that fact. Key word: TRY! Am I perfect, no way. But I know one thing for sure. God's Word has never let me down. The Bible is His love letter to me and to you! It's better than any self-help book out there that's for sure. If you haven't picked up a Bible in a while or ever, try it. I wouldn't recommend a King James Version though. I love the New Living Translation. It's so easy to read. And I would also recommend starting with the New Testament at Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. Do not start at the beginning. Personally, my favorite book of the Bible is Proverbs. That's where I started.
Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.
Any thoughts? I'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment below.
Bless you!
Christine
