Does it get any easier being a Christian?

Someone posed that question at a Bible Study tonight. Good question. How would you answer that? Well, let me give you some background to that question. We were discussing Acts 20, specifically Paul. How he continued to experience plots against his life and knew that jail and suffering lie ahead of him. The person asking has been a Christian for about 7 months. So, he wondered if the evil went away and life becomes easier. He wondered if things like temptation and bad things would become easier as well. What do you think?

  1. Great conversation! I think we will always have difficulty and trials, suffering, pain, and affliction while on this earth.
I do think though that as we draw close to God, the sting is not quite as harsh. We have hope in a new life someday in heaven, and we realize that this suffering is only for a short time.
As Christians, we know we are not alone in our suffering as well. I think that is a huge piece. You can get through anything knowing God is right there with you and has promised you eternity with Him.

  2. The temptations and bad things in our lives never cease. However, if we put our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and in Him alone, the burdens that we bear are much lighter. It is when our trust falters that we tend to feel weary. Keep your eyes upon the Lord! Philippians 4:13

  3. Amy...thanks for your comment. Knowing we are not alone and that God is there is definately a comfort. That makes me think of the song "Held". (I think that's the title).

Yes...so true. And I love Philippians 4 - that whole chapter. In fact, I wrote a blog post about it a few weeks ago! Thanks for sharing!
