Welcome to our journey. The purpose of my blog is not only to journal our life experience, but also to share what God is doing in our lives. I do not claim to be an expert in parenting, marriage, or even the Bible. But I do have a heart to share my experiences and the true love that God has for each and every one of us. You can read our testimony by clicking on the top of the page. And if you'd like to know about the Homeless Ministry my husband started, you can click on the Homeless tab. I hope you will comment freely on my posts and in my community.

Lagging behind

My title describes how I feel right now.

We just moved and I'm buried in boxes. Amongst those boxes is my Potter's Wheel box. The one labeled VERY IMPORTANT in red marker all over it! I'm close to finishing my first development plan. I'll finish it a little behind schedule. I hate that feeling. But I love what I'm learning. This has been a great experience so far! I'm excited to start the next 6 month development plan.

We had our house blessed today. Room by room. If you would like to bless your house, but are not sure how to go about it, here is a guide for you.

I'll post pictures of the new house once there's some order to it. So...don't hold your breath. Not that you are. :)

By the way...thanks for introducing yourselves to me in a post a while back. To the one who asked me to keep your comment private...thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to reach out to me. I didn't have a way to contact you so am doing it now. Bless you!

Today, I read the following story in my devotional and it made me think of you and the work you are doing. God Bless you. I hope that someday I can help you in your endeavor. Know that I keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I still wish to remain anonymous but you know who I am! Keep the faith!

    "Walk in Love"

The leader of a mission to the homeless was once asked why he would spend forty years of his life working with grimy, drunken, homeless people. His reply? "All I'm doing is giving back to others a little of the love God has shown me."

Earlier in his life, the man had also been homeless. One day he stumbled into a shelter for a bowl of chili but experienced a taste of something much better: the love of Christ. A man that day told him that Jesus loved him despite his sin and shame. Convicted, the homeless man gave his life to Jesus and became a new person.

Out of gratitude for being saved, the man returned to the mission to share the love of Jesus with others. Was it difficult for him to reach out to other homeless people? Of course not, because he remembered where he had once been.

Really, that story belongs to all of us. On our own, we're all homeless, desperate, pitiful. We don't find Jesus, Jesus finds us. Even the love we give to others doesn't begin with us, it begins with Jesus demonstrating His love for us by dying on a cross for our sins.

The love we share, then, is really based in gratitude. We walk in love toward others to the extent that we remember God's love for us. Interestingly enough, when we love others with a heart of gratitude, we discover that we're really loving God back. One of the best ways to love God and grow closer to Him is to simply love those around us. Take a moment to think of someone who needs the kind of love you have received from God. Now love that person - and know that through that person you are also loving God.
