Summer is here

It's a busy time. Our 3 youngest are in sports and thus the life of a mother consists of quick dinners, rushing out the door with water bottles (hopefully), driving one here and the other there, trying to watch each of them for a time and lots of fun!

What's been really fun is having my oldest daughter around more and she and her boyfriend watched our son's first baseball game! He was a late addition to the baseball team. The last time he played was in Kindergarten, so I was nervous for him. His first practice was Wednesday and first game Thursday. He did great! Started in center field. His first at bat...a success! He then stole 2nd and 3rd base! What fun!

Our youngest is playing softball. She's a natural! I was a smidge worried with this being her first time ever playing softball and knowing many of the girls probably started when they were 2 years old! ha, ha! Our first three kids all started when they were 5. Well, now that we have 4 it just isn't as easy to have everyone in sports and other activities all the time. And so actually, 2nd grade is the perfect age to start.

Our teenager is on the varsity competition cheer team. Wow...that's a commitment. She isn't even in high school yet and they've already started practicing. They started in April. It's one day a week until school gets out. Then it's two days a week and some weekend camps. By August its three days a week. Then comes September...up to 6 days a week with practices, competitions and football games! There's no end in sight until late February!

For those of you who have no idea what competition cheer is. I'd say it's a combination of dance and cheerleading with lots of stunting involved. Oh yes...did I forget to ask for prayer for my daughter? She is a flyer. What's a flyer? A flyer would be the one that gets thrown in the air in hopes that she gets caught by the bases! See why I need prayer!?!? I hope to post a picture of her...just as soon as I get up the nerve to go watch!

A busy summer it will be and I couldn't be more excited! I promise to post some pics this weekend. It'll be a massive catch up!

  1. WOW that is a busy life, do you do a ton of crock pot meals? I think keeping the kids busy is a wonderful way to keep them on the right track

  2. WOW!!! I stopped by from blog frog because one of your comments reminded me of me. Then I read this post. CRAZY!!!! I have teens and a little one. Our summer schedule is more like a jigsaw puzzle than a calendar. Every day is packed -- though I am not complaining. Our son graduates from high school next year, and I'm thankful for all the time we'll be together this summer.

I've become the master of the 10 minute HEALTHY meal and lunchtime smoothies to get us through it all. I just won't sacrifice family dinner for anything.

    God bless.
    Love,

  3. Trooppetrie...I do crockpot meals and I use my Quick Cooking recipe books. Plus I use Tastefully Simple products. Makes dinner much easier! And yes...I agree that having the kids in something is good for them.

Karen - I would love to know more about the 10 minute healthy meal! Yes...kids do grow up way too fast and before you know it they're out and on their own.

    Bless you both!
