Preparing for India

As I prepare for my trip to India, there's so much to do. It's been a bit of a whirlwind. Have I mentioned this is my first mission trip?! Have I mentioned how much I hate flying? As I sit here, I was watching the news and of course, there's a story about how 3 planes were about 12 seconds from colliding before someone noticed and told them to switch courses! Really? Maybe I need to stop watching TV! lol!

I have a start on all the stuff to do.

  • Passport ordered
  • Appointment made for shots at the travel clinic
  • Delta frequent flyer account set up - because I'm flying a bizzillion miles - oh yeah! Have I mentioned I hate flying? :)
There's still a lot to do. Have you been on a mission trip? What are the things I definitely need to bring? What do I need to know? What should I leave at home?

Feel free to comment...any advice would be appreciated.

I still can't believe I'm going to India!

  1. You don't need to bring much- one or two outfits for your mission activities (or have one made there), capris and t-shirts for days off, insect repellant, sunscreen, vitamins, pepto bismol tablets, malaria pills (if travel clinic says to)comfortable sandals, cute jewelry (Indians love jewelry), camera. A computer is handy for skyping and blogging. Mostly bring a heart attitude of adventure and openness to what God is doing. Don't expect it to be like America. The differences can be amazing or annoying, but that is up to you.
